BARNSTABLE COUNTY MUTUAL INSURANCE COMPANY
In order to meet their expanding facilities’ needs, Barnstable County Mutual Insurance Company hired Saltonstall Architects to design a new headquarters. The two story office building is designed in a style consistent with historic architectural language of Cape Cod. The building and systems are intended to be durable and resilient with the ability to operate after major storm events as a disaster recovery center. The reception, office, and meeting spaces are organized around a two-story atrium with a monumental stairwell, facilitating collaboration among the various internal business teams. The interior spaces are detailed with a high level of trim, fun use of color, and transitional detailing, reflecting the companies’ long history on Cape Cod and their forward looking approach to the business of insurance.
