RYDER LANE
Built on a speculative basis, this house was the first created in the region under the LEED® for Homes Pilot Program. Designed specifically for the site, the house takes advantage of natural ventilation from prevailing southwest breezes, southern facing exposure for solar energy and long views overlooking green fields. Traditional looking New England building materials that require little long-term maintenance mask the high performance-building exterior. Addressing rising utility costs, water, and electrical efficiency were major priorities in the design of the mechanical systems. Interior finish selections were based on being rapidly renewable, regionally produced, and low emitting to promote a healthy living environment.
