West Drive

When the owners bought this magnificent property on Marion Harbor, they considered renovating the existing two-story home. After further architectural exploration, they decided to build a new home closer to the harbor where they could live on one level and enjoy a better connection between interior and exterior spaces. Based on the owners’ initial guidance, our design centered around an entry garden and courtyard, and a wraparound porch to enjoy the western harbor exposure. The one-story design allowed us to include high ceilings with interesting details in each major living space, such as the exposed natural wood scissor trusses in the kitchen and living room. A screened portion of the porch sits between the breakfast nook and the pool deck, providing an open-air feeling without the bugs!

We detailed the home with plenty of daylight, a highly efficient building envelope, and a solar photovoltaic system to offset the electrical demands of the house.
