Mattapoisett Beachfront

This project was a total renovation of a typical Cape Cod colonial-style home with the potential to maximize incredible views of the ocean and beach behind the home. To take the best advantage of the site, we opened the back of the home to the view, creating a modern waterfront home, with stepped-down decks, an outdoor grill, and a pool, while preserving the historic front of the home. We also added a wing to provide space for a first-floor bedroom and bath, which balanced the house. Our most technical challenge, undertaken to salvage the home, was raising the entire second level to allow for more generous first-floor ceilings throughout the central open concept living areas on the first floor without impacting the overall scale of the home. The impact was better-proportioned rooms, expanded views of the sky, increased natural light, and a compelling pull to get outside!
