Cityside Contemporary

Saltonstall Architects was engaged to renovate and expand this Spanish Colonial residence in Boston, creating a seamless addition that honors the character of the original home while supporting contemporary family life.

The design extends the building's traditional architectural language, carefully integrating new spaces that feel as though they have always been part of the house. In collaboration with interior designer Pappas Miron, the project developed a refined interior palette that balances traditional detailing with a clean, modern feeling.

The design opened previously separated rooms to improve the connection between family gathering spaces. Selective use of bold colors and materials introduces moments of contrast and personality, while preserving the warmth and timeless character of the home.
