Saltonstall Architects worked with AD Makepeace to develop the YMCA as the second “anchor” building for their new Redbrook residential development in Plymouth. Architectural style was informed by A.D. Makepeace’s history as an agricultural company, and their inventory of agrarian buildings. Large volumes, open spaces, and large expanses of glazing provide an inviting and motivational space in which to exercise. Working with the YMCA board of directors, Saltonstall Architects developed plans and three-dimensional renderings to assist in YMCA fundraising efforts. Saltonstall Architects worked with the Construction Manager in a design-build process to expedite construction.
